Simple machines make hard
jobs easier. Have you ever tried to open a jar with a lid that was stuck?
You tried to open it by hand. You used your wrist to make a twisting motion.
This twisting motion is force.

Several tools have been invented to help open jars.
Ask your guide to find one. Look at it. How does it grip the
lid of the jar? How does it create force? Answer these two questions
in your notebook.
