Something of Value
Making a good trade can be difficult. It needs at least
two people. Each person must also have something of value
to the other person. To make things easier, people
began to trade for gold and silver. Exchanging goods or work for gold
and silver was the first step toward using money. Almost everyone thought
that these metals were valuable. They were easier to use and carry
than cows and bushels of corn.
