(4) Vow - a serious promise 承诺: Jim made a vow that he would find his wife's killer. Keep / break a vow Marriage / wedding vows - the promises you make during your wedding (5) Fake - to make something seem real in order to deceive people 假扮;伪装: She faked her father's signature on the cheque. The results of the experiments were faked. (6) Stake (out) a claim - to say publicly that you think you have a right to have or own something 宣布拥有某物的权利: Both countries staked a claim to the islands. (7) Trace - a small sign that shows that someone or something was present or existed 踪迹;迹象: There was no trace of anyone having entered the room since then. (8) Replace - if you replace something that has been broken, stolen etc, you get a new one 替换: I'll replace the vase I broke as soon as possible. (9) Long - to want something very much, especially when it seems unlikely to happen soon 渴望:a. long to do something 渴望做某事;b. long for something 渴望得到某物: He longed to see her again. She longed for the chance to speak to him in private. (10) Embrace - the act of holding someone close to you, especially as a sign of love 拥抱: They held each other in a tender embrace.
