Some people believe that Earth is being harmed by human activities. Others feel that human activities make Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion?

The quality of human life has improved greatly over the past few centuries, but Earth is being harmed more and more severelyl by human activities. As we develop our technologies, we exploit more from our planet. Eventually, this will harm ourselves as well.
Our planet gives us everything we need, but natural resources are not endless. Strip mining devastates the whole regional environment, leaving bare and useless ground. Beforestation removes old tress that cannot be replaced. Too much fishing may reduce fish populations to the point where they cannot recover. We are too careless when taking what we want without giving anything back.
There are more people living longer than ever due to humans’ development. So it is no wonder that Earth is bearing a much heavier burden. Anyone living in or near a city has experienced “ urban sprawl”. New shopping malls and apartments have appeared everywhere. Traffic gets worse and worse because roads cannot keep up with car growth. Keeping up with human’e ever-increasing demands is hard enough. Environmental concerns come last in order to make economy develop fast enough. With economical growth comes pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and, worse, redioactive waste have made us fel nowhere safe to go. If we are not careful, we will destroy our planet.
People need to respect Earth and try to protect it. If we do not, what kind of future shall we have!
